Game Summary:
Pottsville Railway Park Little League - Pottsville had tremendous support from the crowd and battled hard in their last game of the tournament. Pottsville's Mehling and Ridge pitched under difficult conditions as the rain ended at the beginning of the game and a heavy mist/drizzle proceeded through the game. Still they struck out a combination of ten batters and only gave up two walks. Field crews cleaned up the running paths and mound with "HI-DRI" but the baseballs stayed wet and slippery.
At the end of the game Pottsville was honored by their team Uncle, Dave Bellenzeni, their host families, NELL's President and District 19's District Administrator. As each player was announced, Host families handed the player their gift at the pitcher's mound. Each Pottsville player received a large duffle bag donated by Sunoco with the State Tournament logo on hte side. The bag contained various items including a tournament shirt stating "I played in the 1996 Pennsylvania State Tournament", Blockbuster gift certificates, and other hats and shirts. Upper Darby Little League - Upper Darby's Nunan hit three for three with two singles and a ground rule double. McMahon hit a home run in the fourth and a single in the fifth. Smith hit a stron double in the sixth and single in the fourth. Hits were also had by D'Orazio, DePrince and Pollock. D'Orazio Pitched the entire game earning five strike outs and giving up only two walks.
