OP/RF Class of 1953 Attitudes Toward Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright as Icons of Oak Park

Question - When you examine the tourist promotional literature about Oak Park, it is celebrated as the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway and where the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright can best be appreciated. As I recall, neither of these people were held in such esteem in the 1950s. Some older and conservative Oak Parkers thought both of these gentlemen were immoral. They would have not thought it in good taste to use them as the public image of the village. What do you think, is it a good idea to have Hemingway and Wright as the official image of Oak Park?
